Community
Outreach
Our community outreach is rooted in the belief that Black lives are worthy of safety, joy, and liberation. We organize intentional spaces—through activities, rallies, community dinners, and healing-centered events—that uplift, protect, and empower the people.
From powerful protests to peaceful gatherings, every action is designed to foster connection, amplify voices, and provide a sense of belonging. Whether it’s sharing a meal, speaking truth to power, or simply creating space to be heard, our mission is to ensure that community members feel seen, supported, and celebrated.
We are building more than events—we are nurturing a movement grounded in love, resistance, and the radical act of collective care.
Youth
Education
Our youth outreach is dedicated to empowering Black youth through education, opportunity, and radical support. We create safe, affirming spaces where young people are encouraged to dream boldly, speak freely, and access the tools they need to succeed.
Through workshops, mentorship, cultural events, and resource-driven programming, we help youth explore their potential, connect with their identity, and build skills for both personal growth and community leadership. We’re not just teaching—we’re listening, investing, and walking alongside the next generation as they shape the future.
Our mission is to ensure every child knows they are powerful, protected, and never alone on their journey.
Redemption
Restoring Hope, Rebuilding Lives
At In Defense of Black Lives, we believe everyone deserves a second chance—especially those impacted by the criminal justice system. Our work with formerly incarcerated individuals is rooted in restoration, not punishment. We walk alongside them as they transition back into society, offering direct access to life-changing resources like job training, affordable housing, mental health support, education opportunities, and legal advocacy.
We understand that the road to rebuilding isn’t easy, especially with the systemic barriers that many face after incarceration. That’s why we focus on removing those obstacles and creating real pathways to stability, purpose, and empowerment. Through community partnerships and compassionate support, we help individuals reclaim their future, reconnect with their families, and reenter the world with pride.
This is more than reintegration—it’s a commitment to justice, dignity, and lasting change.
Voter Registration
At In Defense of Black Lives, we’re deeply committed to building political power in Black communities across Dallas. Our work goes beyond protest—we focus on turning energy from the streets into real change at the ballot box. Through voter registration drives, block walks, community events, and digital outreach, we help ensure our people are informed, empowered, and ready to vote in every election that impacts our lives.
We prioritize the issues that matter most to us—public safety, education, healthcare, housing, and economic justice—especially in historically underrepresented Black neighborhoods. We host educational sessions and town halls to keep our communities up to date on policies and candidates, because we believe informed voters are powerful voters.
Everything we do is about protecting and uplifting Black voices. Our mission is clear: to defend Black lives by ensuring our communities are not only heard, but represented.

Building a better future through compassion
Our work is about abolition—not just of systems, but of the mindset that tells us oppression is inevitable. We believe in alternatives: community accountability, mutual aid, healing, and transformative justice. We believe in building power outside the systems that were never meant to protect us. And we believe that everyone deserves to live with dignity, safety, and freedom.
